Frugal February Tip #21

Tip #21 - Save time and energy by cook everything at once. Okay, realistically you aren't going to cook everything for the week on say, a Sunday afternoon, but you can do a lot. Since you already planned what you are eating this week it's not too hard to look at the list and see what can be done ahead of time. For example, if you have several meals that have chicken in them, cook all the chicken at once, then when the next meal comes you just have to heat it up and save time with the step of cooking it first. Same goes with using the oven. It takes a lot to heat up and keep heated. I like making granola bars to munch on, so when they run out I whip up another batch. I also like to make banana muffins on Sundays with the banana's we have leftover from the week. I get everything together and while the muffins are cooking I make the granola bars so they can go in as soon as the muffins are finished. Also, limit the amount of times you open the oven door. You lose a lot of heat that way. That's why they invent the handy light. :-)
