Weekend Spending and Blogiversary Q & A

So this weekend is kinda a fog for me with getting over the flu... I know we spent on Saturday, I want to say at Walmart (we were in and out of a bunch of stores) but I couldn't tell you how much, but I do remember getting tissues and butter. Sunday was a much needed lazy day filled with NY v.s. Philly sports. At least we won one of the games. We spent about $10 on food for that night and Monday.

Now I'm going to whine about being sick, you can skip it if you'd like.
I thought since I was feeling better I could do what I wanted, like go to work. I guess an 8 hour day is too long for me because I came home wrecked and slept for 2 hours! Two freaking hours! I guess someone didn't tell my body that I had things to get done (like vacuuming and the sink that is overflowing with dishes). I am out of the office tomorrow for a seminar that's like an hour away. I'm praying I can handle it. Is it sad that I'm already plotting to take a nap in my car over lunch if I can? It doesn't help that I'm watching to game right now and my Phil's keep scoring! It's only the bottom of the 3rd, so it's going to be a late night game which mean I'm not going to be able to see the end. :-( Boo.

Why Living Simple?
I stalked blogs before I started mine and I knew I wanted a financial blog. I also was just being to look into living green, so I began brainstorming names that encompassed both of them. A saying my mom always said to us growing up kept popping into my mind, "Live simple so others can simply live." So I decided to adapt it for my blog. I (we) need to live simple so we can live. So we don't get into more debt. So we can pay off the debt we have. So we can buy a house. So we can pay for larger purchases with cash. So we aren't tied down to working 2-3 jobs to keep up with our lifestyle. So we are free to volunteer. So we can give to others. Everyone's version of living simple is different. You don't have to go to extreme measures, you just have to be conscience of what you are doing/how you are living. Sometimes making minor changes can be huge.

Are you planning on a new or used car?
We are planning on a used car. New car's don't even look appealing to me. Knowing how fast they depreciate when you drive them off the lot makes me sick. We will probably look for something that about 3-4 years old, depending on the car we may go older. We both currently drive Maximas and would love to stay with Nissian, especially seeing how durable they are. How many cars can make it to 200K? While the Smart car may look tempting on paper, it wouldn't even warrant a second glance. I guess partly because it would be hubby's car, and being that he's 6'3" I don't know if he would even fit into the car. :-) We still have a lot of research to do, we want something that's safe, reliable and get's good gas mileage.

Let me know if you have anything else you want to ask, or any suggestions on post you'd like to see!
