March 19th Spending

Total spent...well I spent $5 on dinner with my friend. She covered the bill, so I left the tip. We also dropped $758 to get hubby's car inspected. Ouch!

I hate dropping loads of money into older cars. We are looking to purchase a new(to us) car at the end of the year, but until then we have to keep his car on the road. Everything under the hood is great, it was just rear work with his brakes and rooters and such, and of course the cost of labor. Luckily we have enough money set aside that it won't put us into debt :-) It might set back our debt repayment plan though, oh well.

I was talking to my friend (she's an old co-worker, and was like a mom to me) over dinner last night, and she couldn't understand why we want to pay off our debt BEFORE we buy a house. She said that there will always be debt, and with the $8,000 incentive to buy, and the super low interest rates now is the time to buy. How do you tell people that you would LOVE to buy a house, and yes, right now it is very tempting, but your working on a different plan and paying off debt first?

Before I went to dinner, I spent almost 2 hours at the gym! I lifted legs and did some abs work, and then I spent an hour on the treadmill. I was hoping to run, but I think the lifting destroyed my legs, because I could only do a mile, so I walked the remainder of the time on a growing incline for a total of 4.75 miles. Hubby and I are planning on going again tonight, so hopefully my legs will be able to take it. I might end up doing the elliptical or something.

Regarding your friend - it's amazing how many people have the exact attitude. So many people just assume that debt is a part of life. Stick to the plan- it's worth it! It's during times like these that my husband and I are grateful at not having a lot of consumer debt.

Thank you so much for stopping by and the encouragement Rochelle! I can't wait for the day when we are debt free and don't have to worry about it! :-)

I hated putting money into my old car but I'm not sure if I hate having a car payment more. :) And it is hard to explain to people why you want to pay off debt sometimes. I stopped trying to explain emeregency funds awhile ago. :)
