Living simple...

...so others can simply live.

That's a motto my mom used to tell me growing up, and how the title of this blog came to be.

Most of us trying to be frugal and work our way out of debt, so I think we have a good grasp on living simple, but how much do we focus on helping others so they can simply live?

There has been/is a current tragedy in a community near me. The city of Coatesville has had a ban of arson, totaling 30 in the past 30 days. The last one was a seven alarm, leaving 15 families homeless. I didn't realize how big this was until I saw it on the news this morning...which isn't new, but that fact that it was on national TV is. You can read about on here on CNN.

How blessed are we that we don't have to worry every night if our house is going to be next? How blessed are we that we have a roof over our heads? How blessed are we that we have a few cherished possessions? How blessed are we that one of our biggest problems right now is squeezing our budget to pay down our debt, or build up our emergency fund?

From what I know about the city of Coatesville, most of the families didn't have emergency funds. Most are single mothers trying to raise a family by working 3 jobs while the kids were watched by their grandmother (if she wasn't working 2 jobs).

A few organizations in the city are banning together to help. If you donate to charity, think about helping out the families in Coatesville.

You can send checks to:

County Corrections Gospel Mission
PO Box 1136
Coatesville, Pa 19320

(Please reference Fire Mission in the memo)

As of now they are in a state of emergency in hopes of catching person(s). Please pray that they catch them soon so no one else will have to be affected by this.
